The kitchen has now been completed. It's not a commercial kitchen but a community kitchen. This required a separate hand washing sink, a double sink, a wheel chair turning point,a lowered work top and oven doors which open side ways. We ask the community to respect the building and leave it clean and tidy after use.
Thanks to Moniaive Initiative, especially Kara and Debs, a funding application has been completed and sent. The application is for a generator plus housing, storage for resilience materials and two new fire doors upstairs. The grant applied for is for £30.000.- and we will hear whether we are successful around October 8th 2018.
The management committee are working on funding applications to upgrade the downstairs rooms. If anyone can offer help with this, we would be very happy to hear from you.
We are happy to welcome two new events in the last two months: Pottery classes and Table tennis.
We would like to thank everyone who is supporting GMI by becoming a member. Membership forms are in the shop, but online membership forms are also available. Members are invited to AGMs. The committee agreed to start renewing memberships from February 1st 2019 to make it easier to administrate.
Future plans for fund raising: Tea party, Whist Drive, Christmas market and tea dance. Please let us know of your ideas!
Snooker We would like to hear from anyone who would like to organise some kind of snooker club. Currently the Snooker Room is used once a week by two people. We would like to keep the table, as long as it is used by more people on a regular basis.
Please remember to book GMI so dates and times can be put on the calendar. It will also help with invoicing. This includes all groups.
Working Together We welcome the help of Moniaive Initiative, who are now involved in sourcing funding with us.
Logbooks There are two logbooks in the hall upstairs. Please log anything to do with maintenance, for instance light bulbs, hot water etc....
We now have added more cutlery, plastic containers, biscuit tins, sugar shakers, small milk jugs, soup bowls, a large electric kettle, a microwave, a coffee pot and large teapot to the kitchen. We are waiting for a delivery of a new urn.
We need do some fund raising for new flooring in the kitchen.... any ideas?
Please do not forget that GMI is a community building. The committee are there to keep it up and running, but we can't do it without the community.
